Little Bugs Under Carpet

Bugs can carry diseases cause allergies and trigger asthma attacks. Most low level carpet beetle infestations are simply a result of less than fastidious vacuuming especially in homes with pets. You might notice tiny dry black flecks in your carpet and assume it s just dust or sock fluff. When a bug takes shelter inside a carpet it causes an infestation.

Carpet beetlesare common in homes though not often in large numbers so they don t usually attract attention. After a little research we found there are three main types but we had the most common. I also see some shells from them i guess they shed their skin they look like mealworms just smaller. Contrary to popular belief carpet beetles do not just live in your carpet which means that you can have a problem with these pests even if you only have hardwood or tile floors.

Carpet beetles have the unusual ability to digest keratin the structural proteins in animal or human hair skin or fur. Leaving these unsightly critters alone will only result in infestations but failing to identify them. Black carpet beetles the photo above is another much more photogenic variety called the variegated. Bugs living in carpets cause skin irritations such as itching and breakouts.

These are the smallest of the carpet beetles measuring in at around 0 25cm. Carpet beetles feed on carpets and similar products and reproduce slowly. Some female bugs such as bed bugs lay up to five eggs daily. But it could just as easily be carpet beetle faeces.

I ve never seen research on this but i suspect that homes with pets have more of a problem with carpet. Carpet beetles can be found around non synthetic carpet curtains or even in your car. After all in certain conditions a car also almost resembles the interior of a house. Okay i was cleaning out under my bed and i saw these little brown worms crawing in my carpet.

Others such as fleas can lay 2 000 eggs weekly.
