This can overwhelm the evaporator system and leaks can occur. Your maytag fridge has an automatic defrost system that melts the ice from the freezer coils. The main valve is usually located under the sink in the cabinet next to the refrigerator or in the basement while additional valves may exist in the tubing. As the ice melts it drips to the bottom of the freezer.

When checking the water supply line ensure the water supply is properly connected to a cold water supply and the water shutoff valve is fully opened. A kink in the line can reduce water flow.
